What you'll learn

  • Explore consensus algorithms and smart contracts.
  • Learn how blockchain works including its structure and roles involved.
  • Dive deep into advanced blockchain concepts such as network consensus and endorsement policies.
  • Build Hyperledger Composer blockchain solutions through hands-on labs.
  • Gain practical experience with Hyperledger Fabric installation and configuration.
  • Integrate Java applications with Hyperledger Fabric using Bluemix.
  • Develop skills in chaincoding including error handling and database operations.
  • Understand the fundamental concepts of blockchain technology.

Why should you attend?

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to blockchain technology and its applications, starting with the fundamental concepts of blockchain. Participants will learn about the need for blockchain, its components, and various use cases where blockchain can be applied. The course also includes practical examples to help solidify understanding. The curriculum delves into how blockchain works, covering the structure of blockchain, roles of developers, operators, and architects. It further explores consensus algorithms, smart contracts, and proof of work mechanisms. Participants will engage in designing a small blockchain as part of their learning experience. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to Hyperledger Fabric. Students will learn what Hyperledger Fabric is, its usefulness, and receive an installation guide followed by hands-on lab work. The fabric model's structure, key design features, assets, chaincode, ledger features, privacy through channels, security services, and consensus are thoroughly covered. Advanced topics include deep dives into network consensus, channel ordering, network setup, endorsement policies, permissioned ledger access, pluggable world state, and building one's own network. Practical use cases are defined and explored through proof of concept exercises. The course also covers chaincoding in detail including error handling and database operations like query, update and delete entries. Integration with Bluemix and developing Java applications that connect to Hyperledger Fabric are included. Finally, participants will get introduced to Hyperledger Composer—its benefits, components, architecture—and engage in hands-on labs to build Hyperledger Composer blockchain solutions using development tools.
